I am a former Navy man, and while serving in the late 1980s, I discovered this emerging, exciting, challenging sport called triathlon. And in trying to fit this endeavour into a fairly demanding career - one that takes you away from home and with that, an obviously ideal training environment, I still found that it played to my strengths of planning, prioritization, and discipline: all values inherent with the military.
I had a reasonably successful racing "career", doing 60+ triathlons and 80 + road races over a 35yr span. I was the Navy Athlete of the Year and have qualified at Ironman Canada for the World Championships (held in Kona, Hawaii)
Now having retired from racing myself, and as an NCCP Certified Community Coach, I'd love to impart my base of experience – not to mention all of those lessons I’ve learned along the way (both good and bad!) - to you
